Why are all the creepy poisonous animals in australia?

I know they aren't ALL in Australia, but seriously, you would not believe how many times the word "Australia" come up when I'm reading about creepy/deadly animals on cracked.com. There's like NO poisonous animals in Ontario...well, there's one kind of rattlesnake and probably a few more, but really. Why are they all in australia??
