Does he like me, was my friend lying?

This girl I know if friends with someone who i HATE and she knows that. well, my friend knows I like this one guy, and in homeroom yesterday, she started talking to him saying 'Abby likes you, but dont ask her out yet. shes confused.' and she said it loud enough for me to hear. Abby is the girl I HATE. but then the guy I like started talking to me that day and the day before, so now im confused. Does he like her or me? And then my friend told me 'T-the guy i like- said he likes Abby to me. sorry.' but she didnt sound sincere.
