Why is it when women are ahead of men in an area, this is something to be celebrated?

but whenever men are ahead, this is seen as "Sexist discrimination" and it needs to be "fixed". Take the wage gap issue, if there are cases where women make more, there are articles released that celebrate this and show that this is great progress, but whenever men make more, the articles say this is terrible, that it is "discrimination" and it is hurting women everywhere. Can someone tell me how this line of thinking is in any way beneficial to a progressive society?
