Is it possible my best guy friend is still interested in me?

I am 23 and a lady and my best guy friend is 24. Him and I have talked once a week on the phone. 2 Fridays ago he told me he likes me, he knows we both love each other. Then I told him I wanted to take him out to celebrate his birthday late Aug for an entire day he is up for that he told me. Then the following days I have called him mainly every day this past friday he told me needs his space, and stuff he felt pressured, nervous, felt annoyed. I told him i wouldn't call him next week so if he wants to call me he can call me sometime. If he does not call i will just call him the following week. He told me he is still my friend, he didn't tell me he considers me a sis since he told me he liked me not even when he felt annoyed on friday. He told me he wants to talk to me on the phone once a week or every other week. He lives far away, but he is moving back in Aug. Anyways do guys get scared if a girl calls them mainly every day after they tell them they like them??? And if the girl ends up calling and he feels annoyed is it possible that he still really likes her he just needs to take things slow? So even though my close guy friend only wants to talk once a week do you still think he likes me more then a friend??
